Narrative:
After arriving at fmy to top off the tanks, we departed to pgd. We departed from runway 5. The clearance was 'cleared for takeoff runway 5, left turnout approved.' after reaching a safe altitude, I turned to a 330 degree heading. I continued to climb to 2000 ft MSL. A few mins after takeoff the tower controller said 'cessna, be advised you violated class C airspace, frequency change approved.' prior to that, no mention of the overlying airspace or a possible violation was made. The tower controller did not offer a heading or altitude to remain clear of the class C airspace around rsw.
