Narrative:
After calling ground control for taxi clearance, we copied the taxi instructions as 'taxi to runway 35R, via taxiway a, hold short of runway 9.' after holding short of runway 9, we were cleared to cross and proceeded to the end of taxiway a, short of runway 4, for our run-up, as the area between runways 4 and 35R is small. After completing our run-up, we proceeded across runway 4 (inactive runway) and held short of runway 35R while advising tower that we were ready for takeoff. The tower controller then advised us that we were told to taxi to runway 35R at taxiway M and that there could have been a problem with our crossing runway 4. As we are not frequently in pie, if 'M' intersection was stated in the initial clearance, it was not heard. Having passed 'M' intersection on taxiway a and held short of runway 4 for our run-up (approximately 4 mins), there should have been ample time for the pie ground controller to notify us of our error. In the future, if intersection departures are the normal operation at pie for runway 35R it should be clearly stated by the ground controller (particular for xsit aircraft). We will in the future be prepared for this operation to avoid any runway incursion possibility.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: C310 CPR PLT HAD A RWY INCURSION TAXIING OUT AT PIE.
Narrative: AFTER CALLING GND CTL FOR TAXI CLRNC, WE COPIED THE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS AS 'TAXI TO RWY 35R, VIA TXWY A, HOLD SHORT OF RWY 9.' AFTER HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 9, WE WERE CLRED TO CROSS AND PROCEEDED TO THE END OF TXWY A, SHORT OF RWY 4, FOR OUR RUN-UP, AS THE AREA BTWN RWYS 4 AND 35R IS SMALL. AFTER COMPLETING OUR RUN-UP, WE PROCEEDED ACROSS RWY 4 (INACTIVE RWY) AND HELD SHORT OF RWY 35R WHILE ADVISING TWR THAT WE WERE READY FOR TKOF. THE TWR CTLR THEN ADVISED US THAT WE WERE TOLD TO TAXI TO RWY 35R AT TXWY M AND THAT THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A PROB WITH OUR XING RWY 4. AS WE ARE NOT FREQUENTLY IN PIE, IF 'M' INTXN WAS STATED IN THE INITIAL CLRNC, IT WAS NOT HEARD. HAVING PASSED 'M' INTXN ON TXWY A AND HELD SHORT OF RWY 4 FOR OUR RUN-UP (APPROX 4 MINS), THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN AMPLE TIME FOR THE PIE GND CTLR TO NOTIFY US OF OUR ERROR. IN THE FUTURE, IF INTXN DEPS ARE THE NORMAL OP AT PIE FOR RWY 35R IT SHOULD BE CLRLY STATED BY THE GND CTLR (PARTICULAR FOR XSIT ACFT). WE WILL IN THE FUTURE BE PREPARED FOR THIS OP TO AVOID ANY RWY INCURSION POSSIBILITY.
