Narrative:

50 mins into the flight XA50 local time. I, the captain, leaned over to get my en route charts out of my flight bag, and I started to feel a burning and tightness feeling in my upper chest area. I told my copilot how I was feeling, and we decided the safest course of action was to return to jfk. At jfk, the emt medical police met me at the aircraft and gave me an ekg and blood pressure test at the gate. The tests were normal, but they told me to follow up their tests with further tests at the hospital. I went directly to the hospital where another ekg was given and also blood tests, chest x-ray, and 5 hours of ekg and blood pressure monitoring. All tests came out normal, and the doctors at the hospital told me I have symptoms of gerd, which is acid reflux. Today, I have gone to my doctor, and I am being treated for gerd.
