Narrative:
I had taken off from whp airport and proceeded north through newhall pass. I went east to climb to 3500 ft MSL. I then proceeded west climbing to 4500 ft MSL en route to szp (santa paula airport). I was squawking VFR 1200 transponder code, listening to socal approach. I heard a beech call socal approach. Socal responded to the beech to report magic mountain. No other radio traffic was heard from socal or beech. I was just north of magic mountain when the beechcraft, came very close to my position. He was going south, me west. I just saw the other aircraft moments before we passed. I turned left (south) and down to avoid hitting the other aircraft. I don't think he even saw me. I believe he was descending to van nuys or whiteman.
