Narrative:

I was making a visual approach to runway 25L lax. I was doing 'operating experience' with a company check airman. We were held up high due to traffic. Our approach started out high. In order to get down, we had to increase our descent rate. On final approach (at about 300 ft AGL), we got a 'sink rate' verbal warning. We arrested the descent rate and landed. Normally, my inclination was to 'go around,' because of being so high and having to descend abnormally. The check airman assured me we could make it so, on his word and assurance, I continued. I, being uncomfortable with the approach, should have expressed more fully my concern and reservation about the high approach. I should have asked for a vector or 'south' turns early to lose some altitude, or at the 'sink rate' warning should have executed a missed approach. Being that I was in a training situation, I felt compelled to continue the approach as I was instructed to do.

Title: A B737-800 FLC DURING TRAINING IS TOO HIGH ON AN APCH AND IS NOT STABILIZED AND EXPERIENCES A GPWS.

Narrative: I WAS MAKING A VISUAL APCH TO RWY 25L LAX. I WAS DOING 'OPERATING EXPERIENCE' WITH A COMPANY CHK AIRMAN. WE WERE HELD UP HIGH DUE TO TFC. OUR APCH STARTED OUT HIGH. IN ORDER TO GET DOWN, WE HAD TO INCREASE OUR DSCNT RATE. ON FINAL APCH (AT ABOUT 300 FT AGL), WE GOT A 'SINK RATE' VERBAL WARNING. WE ARRESTED THE DSCNT RATE AND LANDED. NORMALLY, MY INCLINATION WAS TO 'GAR,' BECAUSE OF BEING SO HIGH AND HAVING TO DSND ABNORMALLY. THE CHK AIRMAN ASSURED ME WE COULD MAKE IT SO, ON HIS WORD AND ASSURANCE, I CONTINUED. I, BEING UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THE APCH, SHOULD HAVE EXPRESSED MORE FULLY MY CONCERN AND RESERVATION ABOUT THE HIGH APCH. I SHOULD HAVE ASKED FOR A VECTOR OR 'S' TURNS EARLY TO LOSE SOME ALT, OR AT THE 'SINK RATE' WARNING SHOULD HAVE EXECUTED A MISSED APCH. BEING THAT I WAS IN A TRAINING SIT, I FELT COMPELLED TO CONTINUE THE APCH AS I WAS INSTRUCTED TO DO.
