Narrative:
On the VOR-a approach to mkk, we started our descent to 1800 ft, crossing the VOR with subsequent dscnts to 1580 ft at 1.0 mi, and 1040 ft at 2.0 mi respectively. I called 'field in sight' prior to 3.8 mi, and the captain responded by calling 'field in sight' also. We proceeded to circle to the south for landing on runway 23. The captain mentioned if we executed a 'miss,' we would head back to ogg. Upon turning base, we entered the clouds again. In trying to make a landing, the captain increased his bank. The attitude indicator indicated we were in a 45 degree bank and the altimeter indicated approximately 840 ft. About this time, we received a GPWS 'terrain' alert, accompanied by a shaking on our yokes (stall warning). (The airspeed at the time was not seen.) the captain then decided to execute a 'missed' approach and head back to ogg. There were no SOP callouts as briefed before departing ogg to mkk. I then completed our checklist, made contact with hnl center, and received clearance to ogg. The flight proceeded to ogg and landed.

Title: DHC8 FLC ENCOUNTERS A CLOUD ON A CIRCLING APCH AND TEMPORARILY LOSES CTL OF THE ACFT.
Narrative: ON THE VOR-A APCH TO MKK, WE STARTED OUR DSCNT TO 1800 FT, XING THE VOR WITH SUBSEQUENT DSCNTS TO 1580 FT AT 1.0 MI, AND 1040 FT AT 2.0 MI RESPECTIVELY. I CALLED 'FIELD IN SIGHT' PRIOR TO 3.8 MI, AND THE CAPT RESPONDED BY CALLING 'FIELD IN SIGHT' ALSO. WE PROCEEDED TO CIRCLE TO THE S FOR LNDG ON RWY 23. THE CAPT MENTIONED IF WE EXECUTED A 'MISS,' WE WOULD HEAD BACK TO OGG. UPON TURNING BASE, WE ENTERED THE CLOUDS AGAIN. IN TRYING TO MAKE A LNDG, THE CAPT INCREASED HIS BANK. THE ATTITUDE INDICATOR INDICATED WE WERE IN A 45 DEG BANK AND THE ALTIMETER INDICATED APPROX 840 FT. ABOUT THIS TIME, WE RECEIVED A GPWS 'TERRAIN' ALERT, ACCOMPANIED BY A SHAKING ON OUR YOKES (STALL WARNING). (THE AIRSPD AT THE TIME WAS NOT SEEN.) THE CAPT THEN DECIDED TO EXECUTE A 'MISSED' APCH AND HEAD BACK TO OGG. THERE WERE NO SOP CALLOUTS AS BRIEFED BEFORE DEPARTING OGG TO MKK. I THEN COMPLETED OUR CHKLIST, MADE CONTACT WITH HNL CTR, AND RECEIVED CLRNC TO OGG. THE FLT PROCEEDED TO OGG AND LANDED.
