Narrative:
The aircraft had an MEL that required that no bags or cargo be loaded in the aft cargo compartment, due to an inoperative fire detection system. About 5 mins prior to pushback, I asked the agent on the headset to make sure there were no bags or cargo loaded in the aft cargo compartment, he assured me that the aft compartment was empty. Upon our arrival in ZZZ, a mechanic informed us that there were bags in the aft cargo compartment. I reviewed the weight and balance form and noticed that there were 25 bags in the aft cargo compartment. Due to the fact that we were rushing to get the plane out, and the fact we did not have proper support from the station, and the fact that the headset operator lied to me regarding the loading of the aircraft, my first officer and myself failed to look at the weight and balance more carefully. Next time, I will make sure we slow down so we can be more careful.

Title: B737-200 FLC, AFTER ARR, DISCOVERED THAT BAGS WERE LOADED IN A CARGO COMPARTMENT THAT WAS NOT TO HAVE BAGS IN IT DUE TO A MEL.
Narrative: THE ACFT HAD AN MEL THAT REQUIRED THAT NO BAGS OR CARGO BE LOADED IN THE AFT CARGO COMPARTMENT, DUE TO AN INOP FIRE DETECTION SYS. ABOUT 5 MINS PRIOR TO PUSHBACK, I ASKED THE AGENT ON THE HEADSET TO MAKE SURE THERE WERE NO BAGS OR CARGO LOADED IN THE AFT CARGO COMPARTMENT, HE ASSURED ME THAT THE AFT COMPARTMENT WAS EMPTY. UPON OUR ARR IN ZZZ, A MECHANIC INFORMED US THAT THERE WERE BAGS IN THE AFT CARGO COMPARTMENT. I REVIEWED THE WT AND BAL FORM AND NOTICED THAT THERE WERE 25 BAGS IN THE AFT CARGO COMPARTMENT. DUE TO THE FACT THAT WE WERE RUSHING TO GET THE PLANE OUT, AND THE FACT WE DID NOT HAVE PROPER SUPPORT FROM THE STATION, AND THE FACT THAT THE HEADSET OPERATOR LIED TO ME REGARDING THE LOADING OF THE ACFT, MY FO AND MYSELF FAILED TO LOOK AT THE WT AND BAL MORE CAREFULLY. NEXT TIME, I WILL MAKE SURE WE SLOW DOWN SO WE CAN BE MORE CAREFUL.
