Narrative:
The flight was originally planned from mia to tri to refuel for follow-on flight from tri to yip. Prior to descent into tri, the crew evaluated fuel capacity for a non-stop flight directly to yip. The crew estimated a 4000 pound fuel requirement to fly non stop to yip. With 6000 pounds of fuel on board, the crew elected to overfly tri and fly non-stop to yip. Over dqn VOR, the crew requested ATC to allow continued flight at altitude (FL350) for as long as possible to prevent becoming fuel critical. ATC accommodated the flight as long as possible and gave as many direct vectors as possible for the operational situation. By the time the flight reached cruxx intersection at 9000 ft MSL at 250 KTS in icing conditions, the fuel on board was 1700 pounds. Due to WX conditions, ATC vectoring, and required aircraft confign, the flight ultimately terminated safely at yip, but with considerably less than required fuel reserves (approximately 375 pounds). Had a go around or divert to alternate been required, there were insufficient fuel reserves available. Mitigating factors to this event were WX, ATC requirements, and fuel flow requirements for anti-ice operations.
