Narrative:
I was preoccupied with landing short on runway 5 so as to turn off at taxiway a, for the shortest taxi distance to the GA ramp. Thus preoccupied, I completely overlooked the displaced threshold symbols on the approach plates, airport diagram, and on the runway itself. I discovered my error only after landing. I am very conscious of the displaced thresholds on some short runways I use. Now I will look for them on long ones as well. (I had not landed at orf for many yrs.)
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PA28 PLT LANDS SHORT OF DISPLACED THRESHOLD AT ORF.
Narrative: I WAS PREOCCUPIED WITH LNDG SHORT ON RWY 5 SO AS TO TURN OFF AT TXWY A, FOR THE SHORTEST TAXI DISTANCE TO THE GA RAMP. THUS PREOCCUPIED, I COMPLETELY OVERLOOKED THE DISPLACED THRESHOLD SYMBOLS ON THE APCH PLATES, ARPT DIAGRAM, AND ON THE RWY ITSELF. I DISCOVERED MY ERROR ONLY AFTER LNDG. I AM VERY CONSCIOUS OF THE DISPLACED THRESHOLDS ON SOME SHORT RWYS I USE. NOW I WILL LOOK FOR THEM ON LONG ONES AS WELL. (I HAD NOT LANDED AT ORF FOR MANY YRS.)
