Narrative:
16 hour crew duty day violation, from ZZZ1 us. First flight was XA00Z, report was operations normal. Next flight scheduled to depart 8 hours later. Due to WX diverts, etc, flight blocked out 2 hours 45 mins late. Flight was scheduled allowing 10 min taxi in, leaving a 19 minute pad. Upon pushback at ZZZ, towbar broke, requiring replacement and maintenance inspection. Ramp dispatch controller initially held flight, but I told him of possible crew day violation. They called back shortly with start clearance. After towbar broke, I contacted flight control and told of crew time. They said since we pushed already, continue. Flight departed runway 22L, a long taxi, and we were #2 for takeoff. Flight departed 3 hours 15 mins late. Experienced 4 min delay in-flight/en route. Upon arrival, approach control slowed and vectored us early. Runway 7R was used. Planned for runway 25L (shorter flight). Approach also vectored us for a declared emergency by oak VORTAC. Total duty day of 16 hours 6 mins.
