Narrative:

Landing at unv airport, the visibility was reported at 1/2 mi and 200 ft. We intercepted the localizer at 5000 ft and 24 mi out. At approximately 13 mi, intercepted the GS, we were cleared for the approach by ZNY. At 1000 ft above the field, I had ground contact vertical and partially horizontal through the left window. At approximately 250 ft, we had the runway environment, and at 210 ft, approximately, had the whole runway in sight. I asked the copilot who was flying the approach if he had the field. His answer was 'where?,' and I replied 12 O'clock straight ahead. He said, ok. At this time, we were VFR, I was changing frequency on the #1 communication, when I noticed an abrupt movement by the flight engineer. As I looked outside, I saw our position below a normal glide path and thought we were going to land on the approach lights. I immediately took control of the airplane, applied firewall thrust, and pulled the nose up. We landed about 1000 ft down runway 24. After parking, and on the walk around, we noticed damage to the aft belly of the airplane. At this time, we were told that we took out 2 lights on the approach, one at 600 ft from the end of the runway and one at 200 ft from the end.

Title: B727 FLT CREW DSNDS BELOW GS ON ILS APCH AND STRIKES RWY LEAD IN LIGHTS AT UNV.

Narrative: LNDG AT UNV ARPT, THE VISIBILITY WAS RPTED AT 1/2 MI AND 200 FT. WE INTERCEPTED THE LOC AT 5000 FT AND 24 MI OUT. AT APPROX 13 MI, INTERCEPTED THE GS, WE WERE CLRED FOR THE APCH BY ZNY. AT 1000 FT ABOVE THE FIELD, I HAD GND CONTACT VERT AND PARTIALLY HORIZ THROUGH THE L WINDOW. AT APPROX 250 FT, WE HAD THE RWY ENVIRONMENT, AND AT 210 FT, APPROX, HAD THE WHOLE RWY IN SIGHT. I ASKED THE COPLT WHO WAS FLYING THE APCH IF HE HAD THE FIELD. HIS ANSWER WAS 'WHERE?,' AND I REPLIED 12 O'CLOCK STRAIGHT AHEAD. HE SAID, OK. AT THIS TIME, WE WERE VFR, I WAS CHANGING FREQ ON THE #1 COM, WHEN I NOTICED AN ABRUPT MOVEMENT BY THE FE. AS I LOOKED OUTSIDE, I SAW OUR POS BELOW A NORMAL GLIDE PATH AND THOUGHT WE WERE GOING TO LAND ON THE APCH LIGHTS. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK CTL OF THE AIRPLANE, APPLIED FIREWALL THRUST, AND PULLED THE NOSE UP. WE LANDED ABOUT 1000 FT DOWN RWY 24. AFTER PARKING, AND ON THE WALK AROUND, WE NOTICED DAMAGE TO THE AFT BELLY OF THE AIRPLANE. AT THIS TIME, WE WERE TOLD THAT WE TOOK OUT 2 LIGHTS ON THE APCH, ONE AT 600 FT FROM THE END OF THE RWY AND ONE AT 200 FT FROM THE END.
