Air Traffic Incident | Operational Error |
Narrative:
Our flight was holding short of runway 27 at san and received clearance to taxi into position and hold on runway 27 and expect an immediate takeoff. Air traffic communication was heavy. We read back clearance as 'aircraft X onto hold runway 27.' the tower did not respond to the contrary, and no other aircraft were visible. Upon entering the runway, we were told to exit and that the clearance was for aircraft Y. At no time did aircraft Y say anything on the radio, nor were we corrected by the tower when we read back 'aircraft X on to hold runway 27.' we exited the runway without incident and the arriving and departing traffic was not disrupted.

Title: A DC10 FLT CREW TOOK ANOTHER ACFT'S CLRNC AND TAXIED INTO POS AND HOLD. THE TWR DIDN'T CATCH THE INCORRECT READ BACK.
Narrative: OUR FLT WAS HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 27 AT SAN AND RECEIVED CLRNC TO TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD ON RWY 27 AND EXPECT AN IMMEDIATE TKOF. AIR TFC COM WAS HEAVY. WE READ BACK CLRNC AS 'ACFT X ONTO HOLD RWY 27.' THE TWR DID NOT RESPOND TO THE CONTRARY, AND NO OTHER ACFT WERE VISIBLE. UPON ENTERING THE RWY, WE WERE TOLD TO EXIT AND THAT THE CLRNC WAS FOR ACFT Y. AT NO TIME DID ACFT Y SAY ANYTHING ON THE RADIO, NOR WERE WE CORRECTED BY THE TWR WHEN WE READ BACK 'ACFT X ON TO HOLD RWY 27.' WE EXITED THE RWY WITHOUT INCIDENT AND THE ARRIVING AND DEPARTING TFC WAS NOT DISRUPTED.
