Narrative:

Inadvertent 1200 transponder code in dc ADIZ on instrument flight plan from cyyz to jyo. During final approach segment and in contact with pct approach at approximately 5 mi from runway both crew members confirmed airport and runway in sight. ATC was advised we would cancel IFR. ATC acknowledged and was told to contact jyo unicom. The traffic at jyo was busy and we were intent on maintaining visual separation. Out of habit the first officer inadvertently set 1200 in the transponder, at about 4 mi from touchdown. We did not do this intentionally.
