Narrative:
I began my flight by accessing WX from the WX channel and by using the automated WX briefing. It was a VFR day with 10 plus miles of visibility. Since this was to be a local VFR pleasure flight, I did not talk to a flight service specialist. I departed abe stopping at 69N. From there was en route to fwn via the sax VOR. I called ny approach and informed the controller of my intentions. He was extremely busy with other traffic. He was also handling an emergency at the time. Me mentioned something about a flight plan, but I did not think it was intended for me. He was so busy with traffic I did not contact him again. I was not planning on entering class B airspace. I followed through with my plan and continued on to fwn. Not until I made a fuel purchase that I read the ADIZ was in effect in the ny area. What I did not do is contact a briefer and check for NOTAMS.
