Narrative:
Landing runway 23 and seeing stopped van, in the absence of instruction from tower, began left turn on runway 18L. Realized error immediately but before I could correct and continue to taxiway C, tower called and directed a left on taxiway a. No other traffic was present.

Title: PLT OF C182, LNDG ON RWY 23 AT CLT, TURNED OFF ON RWY 18L RATHER THAN ON TXWY C. TURN WAS INITIATED DUE TO PRESENCE OF VAN WHICH APPEARED TO BE ABOUT TO CROSS HIS PATH FROM R TO L ON RWY 18L.
Narrative: LNDG RWY 23 AND SEEING STOPPED VAN, IN THE ABSENCE OF INSTRUCTION FROM TWR, BEGAN L TURN ON RWY 18L. REALIZED ERROR IMMEDIATELY BUT BEFORE I COULD CORRECT AND CONTINUE TO TXWY C, TWR CALLED AND DIRECTED A L ON TXWY A. NO OTHER TFC WAS PRESENT.
