Narrative:
A radio call was heard for a takeoff clearance. Apparently it was for another flight with a similar call sign. My aircraft was taxied into position to take off on runway 32. Tower informed us we were not cleared for takeoff. We never started the takeoff and no conflict was noted. I believe the 2 similar sounding call signs and also blocking of radio xmissions by all parties involved was the contributing factor to the error.
