Narrative:
I preflted the aircraft, then boarded the plane. I stowed the nose gear pin and confirmed that there was a full set onboard. At gear retraction, we received a gear disagree warning, and the left main would not retract. We recycled the gear and got the same indications. We returned to atlanta at the gate, maintenance found the left main gear to be pinned. Contributing factors: I was rushed. Distraction by ground vehicles, and pin flag was short. Supplemental information from acn 568027: pin flag should be longer for visual reference.
