Narrative:
Confusion on filed clearance versus 10-2 page arrs. ATC facility: toronto terminal arrival. Location: linng, youth 2. Our clrncs to canada, not only toronto, are to a point on our arrival pages, then direct. (Ie, linng, cyyz). Also, when entering runway in FMS the youth two arrival points may come up adding to the confusion. If the controller is busy, one may wonder whether to turn or proceed direct toward the field, ie, cyyz. Perhaps a note on the arrival page is in order, or filing clrncs to include the arrival, for example, the cedar creek 3 arrival into dfw. I know what the procedure is, ie, to fly dct to cyyz but in talking to terminal controllers it is obvious that our crews have some confusion over what is expected. The controllers suggest on initial contact with toronto to request the youth two if not already filed that way. This is a situation that comes up in cyul as well.
