Narrative:

Second leg of an early morning trip. Crew was tired and slightly depressed, or concerned, over state of the industry. Normal departure from bwi as air carrier X. Given runway heading off of runway 33R to 5000 ft. Switched to potomac departure and given right turn direct lrp VOR and climb to 10000 ft. I read that back, but first officer (PF) only initiated climb. I continued with paperwork and other duties and missed his lack of a turn. Around 8000 ft the controller asked if we turned and then reclred us direct lrp. Controller was very short with me. He then notified another aircraft of our position, but also said there was no spacing problem.
