Narrative:

Ground control said no one was taking off or landing because of thunderstorms, etc. We taxied out in heavy rain to hold short of runway 12R. While making turn from taxiway a onto taxiway C to hold short, nose of aircraft got barely across hold short line. I asked tower for a series of left turns to reposition behind the line fully. Tower said aircraft short of fuel was on short final and to hold position. We were cleared to cross the runway after the landing aircraft passed. My visibility was impaired at an unfamiliar airport and I was surprised to see the hold line pop into view while into the turn onto taxiway C. From now on, I will be even more vigilant about studying the airport diagram and in taxiing only when I am absolutely sure where everything is.
