Narrative:

Vectored to intercept final for visual runway 4R at O'hare, outside rekks, with runway in sight. Upon turning final at 4000 ft, the first officer (PF) mentioned to me that he had about 25 KTS of tailwind. We had already slowed to 180 KTS, and the gear was lowered and speed brake deployed to increase the descent rate. We became preoccupied with flying the aircraft back to the approach profile within stabilized approach criteria and missed the switch to tower frequency at rekks. I noticed that we were still on approach control frequency on the landing rollout and called tower. The runway was clear, but we did land without clearance. The PNF did not comply with SOP while trying to assist the PF with this approach and the unexpected tailwind.

Title: FLT CREW OF A320 LANDED ORD WITHOUT LNDG CLRNC FOLLOWING UNSTABILIZED APCH.

Narrative: VECTORED TO INTERCEPT FINAL FOR VISUAL RWY 4R AT O'HARE, OUTSIDE REKKS, WITH RWY IN SIGHT. UPON TURNING FINAL AT 4000 FT, THE FO (PF) MENTIONED TO ME THAT HE HAD ABOUT 25 KTS OF TAILWIND. WE HAD ALREADY SLOWED TO 180 KTS, AND THE GEAR WAS LOWERED AND SPD BRAKE DEPLOYED TO INCREASE THE DSCNT RATE. WE BECAME PREOCCUPIED WITH FLYING THE ACFT BACK TO THE APCH PROFILE WITHIN STABILIZED APCH CRITERIA AND MISSED THE SWITCH TO TWR FREQ AT REKKS. I NOTICED THAT WE WERE STILL ON APCH CTL FREQ ON THE LNDG ROLLOUT AND CALLED TWR. THE RWY WAS CLR, BUT WE DID LAND WITHOUT CLRNC. THE PNF DID NOT COMPLY WITH SOP WHILE TRYING TO ASSIST THE PF WITH THIS APCH AND THE UNEXPECTED TAILWIND.
