Narrative:
Destin is an uncontrolled airport, and upon receiving a traffic and airport advisory, I landed, and the aircraft was tied down for the night. The next day, I departed destin runway 14 bound for plr. In making my left turn out of the pattern and turning north, I called eglin on the same frequency as the day before to receive clearance to traverse the corridor northbound. There was no response. I called 124.05 again crossing the bay, again no response. Eglin finally responded when I was abreast of valparaiso (vps). Upon identing myself, I was given clearance to traverse the corridor but was told I was not using preferred procedure that they referred to as pilot deviation. I was told to call a telephone number upon landing at plr, my destination, which I did. A sergeant whose name I do not recall answered the number I was told to call was very firm but polite and he advised me I had used incorrect procedures in traversing the corridor northbound and admonished me to exercise caution and use correct procedures in the future, which I assured him I would.
