Narrative:
Pre departure clearance was amended to the WYLDD2 departure from the HOOVR1 departure. We mistook the WYLDD2 to be the wyldd intersection and expected vectors on departure from runway 25L. After we queried the controller to ask for a turn and he said to fly the WYLDD2 departure, then told us to call TRACON when we land, which we did. TRACON was interested, but not going to file a report on this incident. We flew approximately 8 NM west of las before turning to the south and resumed the WYLLD2 departure as revised on the pre departure clearance. Suggest that a departure not be named the same as one of its intxns, as many departures share some of the same named points, causing confusion.

Title: MD80 FLT CREW MISUNDERSTOOD AMENDMENT TO SID CLRNC AT LAS.
Narrative: PDC WAS AMENDED TO THE WYLDD2 DEP FROM THE HOOVR1 DEP. WE MISTOOK THE WYLDD2 TO BE THE WYLDD INTXN AND EXPECTED VECTORS ON DEP FROM RWY 25L. AFTER WE QUERIED THE CTLR TO ASK FOR A TURN AND HE SAID TO FLY THE WYLDD2 DEP, THEN TOLD US TO CALL TRACON WHEN WE LAND, WHICH WE DID. TRACON WAS INTERESTED, BUT NOT GOING TO FILE A RPT ON THIS INCIDENT. WE FLEW APPROX 8 NM W OF LAS BEFORE TURNING TO THE S AND RESUMED THE WYLLD2 DEP AS REVISED ON THE PDC. SUGGEST THAT A DEP NOT BE NAMED THE SAME AS ONE OF ITS INTXNS, AS MANY DEPS SHARE SOME OF THE SAME NAMED POINTS, CAUSING CONFUSION.
