Narrative:

Ground operation incorrectly inserted 78 bags as 78 pounds of cargo into the computerized weight and balance system. This caused our computed weight at takeoff to be approximately 1800 pounds less than our actual weight. With the aircraft confign we were using: V1, V2 and vr speeds did not change with the weight difference. Maximum takeoff weight was 2000 pounds greater than actual takeoff weight. Balance index was within limitations. Operations called and told us of the error 15 mins after we had departed. We informed operations of the potential serious consequences of this type of error. Contributing factors: late arriving flight causing everyone to rush, and over-reliance on the ease and accuracy of computer generated forms.

Title: AN AIRBUS 319 WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH THE WT MANIFEST INCORRECT. THE WT MANIFEST WAS 1800 LBS LESS THAN ACTUAL ACFT WT.

Narrative: GND OP INCORRECTLY INSERTED 78 BAGS AS 78 LBS OF CARGO INTO THE COMPUTERIZED WT AND BAL SYS. THIS CAUSED OUR COMPUTED WT AT TKOF TO BE APPROX 1800 LBS LESS THAN OUR ACTUAL WT. WITH THE ACFT CONFIGN WE WERE USING: V1, V2 AND VR SPDS DID NOT CHANGE WITH THE WT DIFFERENCE. MAX TKOF WT WAS 2000 LBS GREATER THAN ACTUAL TKOF WT. BAL INDEX WAS WITHIN LIMITATIONS. OPS CALLED AND TOLD US OF THE ERROR 15 MINS AFTER WE HAD DEPARTED. WE INFORMED OPS OF THE POTENTIAL SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES OF THIS TYPE OF ERROR. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: LATE ARRIVING FLT CAUSING EVERYONE TO RUSH, AND OVER-RELIANCE ON THE EASE AND ACCURACY OF COMPUTER GENERATED FORMS.
