Narrative:

Fuel burn. Burned fuel out of center tank before burning auxiliary fuel. Contacted dispatch and maintenance controller to discuss situation. Transferred the small amount of fuel that was in auxiliary tanks to the center tank and operation normal thereafter. Possible reasons for situation: connection through stl, first flight in aircraft for both pilots, distracted with ACARS operations or lack of and used to seeing auxiliary fuel gauges on capts panel. Thought all fuel was in center tank. Both pilots used good checklist discipline.
