Narrative:
Position: bna ramp position between taxiway 5 and taxiway 6, near jet blast fence. Landed early in bna. We got gate information that the gate would be occupied for a few more mins. First officer called ground control and we were instructed to taxi and hold near the jet blast fence between txwys 5 and 6. Taxiing toward the spot I looked at the captain's cockpit clock to have the time awareness for the PA announcement. I was distracted enough to continue a slow shallow left turn towards the fence instead of a perpendicular entry. Facing forward at the opposite end of the fence was a maintenance stand. I focused on that obstacle, losing focus on the fence on my right side. At that time, I noticed the first officer jumping and saying, 'stop, we will hit the fence.' I tried to stop the plane while steering to the left and at the same time I heard a scratching noise. We hit the fence with the right wingtip. I secured the aircraft, communicated with the flight attendants and passenger, and called the company. We completed the checklists and took care of the 50 passenger to be deplaned safely to continue their day.

Title: B737 FLT CREW TAXIES INTO BLAST FENCE AND DAMAGES WINGTIP AT BNA.
Narrative: POS: BNA RAMP POS BTWN TXWY 5 AND TXWY 6, NEAR JET BLAST FENCE. LANDED EARLY IN BNA. WE GOT GATE INFO THAT THE GATE WOULD BE OCCUPIED FOR A FEW MORE MINS. FO CALLED GND CTL AND WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO TAXI AND HOLD NEAR THE JET BLAST FENCE BTWN TXWYS 5 AND 6. TAXIING TOWARD THE SPOT I LOOKED AT THE CAPT'S COCKPIT CLOCK TO HAVE THE TIME AWARENESS FOR THE PA ANNOUNCEMENT. I WAS DISTRACTED ENOUGH TO CONTINUE A SLOW SHALLOW L TURN TOWARDS THE FENCE INSTEAD OF A PERPENDICULAR ENTRY. FACING FORWARD AT THE OPPOSITE END OF THE FENCE WAS A MAINT STAND. I FOCUSED ON THAT OBSTACLE, LOSING FOCUS ON THE FENCE ON MY R SIDE. AT THAT TIME, I NOTICED THE FO JUMPING AND SAYING, 'STOP, WE WILL HIT THE FENCE.' I TRIED TO STOP THE PLANE WHILE STEERING TO THE L AND AT THE SAME TIME I HEARD A SCRATCHING NOISE. WE HIT THE FENCE WITH THE R WINGTIP. I SECURED THE ACFT, COMMUNICATED WITH THE FLT ATTENDANTS AND PAX, AND CALLED THE COMPANY. WE COMPLETED THE CHKLISTS AND TOOK CARE OF THE 50 PAX TO BE DEPLANED SAFELY TO CONTINUE THEIR DAY.
