Narrative:

Vgt tower controller reported to me via communication radio (while approaching airport) that I had inadvertently penetrated las class B airspace. The sector I was flying in had a floor of 4500 ft. I was using an apollo mx-20 multifunction display tied into an apollo gx-55 GPS navigation. At the time, I believed the sector in which I was navigating had a floor of 5000 ft MSL. I was backing up GPS navigation with a current copy of the las terminal area chart. I believe the penetration occurred because I was focusing on the mx-20 display which I had zoomed into a fairly small scale and lost situational awareness as to the sector in which I was operating. Henceforth, I will not zoom the mfd in so much, so that I do not lose the position of the sector boundaries in all of the rest of the information displayed on the mfd unit.

Title: PA28 PLT USING A GPS NAVIGATOR ZOOMED INTO A SMALL SCALE OF CLASS B AIRSPACE CAUSING HIM TO LOSE TRACK OF HIS POS AND ENTER CLASS B.

Narrative: VGT TWR CTLR RPTED TO ME VIA COM RADIO (WHILE APCHING ARPT) THAT I HAD INADVERTENTLY PENETRATED LAS CLASS B AIRSPACE. THE SECTOR I WAS FLYING IN HAD A FLOOR OF 4500 FT. I WAS USING AN APOLLO MX-20 MULTIFUNCTION DISPLAY TIED INTO AN APOLLO GX-55 GPS NAV. AT THE TIME, I BELIEVED THE SECTOR IN WHICH I WAS NAVING HAD A FLOOR OF 5000 FT MSL. I WAS BACKING UP GPS NAV WITH A CURRENT COPY OF THE LAS TERMINAL AREA CHART. I BELIEVE THE PENETRATION OCCURRED BECAUSE I WAS FOCUSING ON THE MX-20 DISPLAY WHICH I HAD ZOOMED INTO A FAIRLY SMALL SCALE AND LOST SITUATIONAL AWARENESS AS TO THE SECTOR IN WHICH I WAS OPERATING. HENCEFORTH, I WILL NOT ZOOM THE MFD IN SO MUCH, SO THAT I DO NOT LOSE THE POS OF THE SECTOR BOUNDARIES IN ALL OF THE REST OF THE INFO DISPLAYED ON THE MFD UNIT.
