Narrative:

Lax conducting lndgs to the east, departures to the west for noise abatement. We were cleared to land on runway 7L. Tower cleared the B727 to take off on runway 25L and when they were airborne, realized there was a conflict. At that time, tower ordered us to turn left immediately. We turned left and executed go around. We were later informed there was no loss of separation. If we had continued to a landing, there would have been no collision, but there would have been loss of separation. My concerns during the evasive maneuver were obstacle clearance and traffic conflicts on runways 6L and 6R. To prevent future problems, lax should keep arrs on runway 6L/6R and departures on runway 25L/25R in the early morning hours.

Title: B767 LNDG LAX HAS NMAC WITH DEPARTING B727.

Narrative: LAX CONDUCTING LNDGS TO THE E, DEPS TO THE W FOR NOISE ABATEMENT. WE WERE CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 7L. TWR CLRED THE B727 TO TAKE OFF ON RWY 25L AND WHEN THEY WERE AIRBORNE, REALIZED THERE WAS A CONFLICT. AT THAT TIME, TWR ORDERED US TO TURN L IMMEDIATELY. WE TURNED L AND EXECUTED GAR. WE WERE LATER INFORMED THERE WAS NO LOSS OF SEPARATION. IF WE HAD CONTINUED TO A LNDG, THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO COLLISION, BUT THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN LOSS OF SEPARATION. MY CONCERNS DURING THE EVASIVE MANEUVER WERE OBSTACLE CLRNC AND TFC CONFLICTS ON RWYS 6L AND 6R. TO PREVENT FUTURE PROBS, LAX SHOULD KEEP ARRS ON RWY 6L/6R AND DEPS ON RWY 25L/25R IN THE EARLY MORNING HRS.
