Narrative:
Upon taxi in, aircraft was marshaled into jetway by marshaler. Jetway operator had jetway set for B737, not an airbus. Operator stated the white indication line was faded and she could not see it. 8 inch long and 3/4 inch deep dent in left engine cowling. Supplemental information from acn 582030: the marshaler continued to marshall us until the jetway struck the #1 engine cowl. He said he was only used to parking a boeing. This was the first airbus he had parked. There were no visible lines to protect the position of the jetway.
