Narrative:
We were returning home from europe (eddn) after stopping at einn and cyqx. Ilm was for united states customs and fuel. Flight plan was cyqx-ilm, down east coast and direct ilm after orf. Around norfolk, va, we were cleared direct wilmington. ATC gave crossing restr of 115 mi north of wilmington at FL310. At 120 mi north of ilm, we were at 31600 ft and we had a TCASII traffic call. Reported TCASII call to ATC. ATC fussed about the restr. We were level at FL310 at 115 mi north of ilm. I suspect the controller was referencing the ilm VOR -- which is about 6 mi north of the airport. I will be more diligent when cleared to airports where the same named VOR is not on the airport.

AROUND NORFOLK, VA, WE WERE CLRED DIRECT WILMINGTON. ATC GAVE XING RESTR OF 115 MI N OF WILMINGTON AT FL310. AT 120 MI N OF ILM, WE WERE AT 31600 FT AND WE HAD A TCASII TFC CALL. RPTED TCASII CALL TO ATC. ATC FUSSED ABOUT THE RESTR. WE WERE LEVEL AT FL310 AT 115 MI N OF ILM. I SUSPECT THE CTLR WAS REFING THE ILM VOR -- WHICH IS ABOUT 6 MI N OF THE ARPT. I WILL BE MORE DILIGENT WHEN CLRED TO ARPTS WHERE THE SAME NAMED VOR IS NOT ON THE ARPT.
