Narrative:
We were cleared for the localizer runway 12L at msp. Aircraft was configured and appropriate checklists were completed. We broke out at minimums and joined the VASI for landing using flaps 30 degrees which is allowed per company cfm. Autobrakes were set to 2. We touched down in touchdown zone. Autobrakes activated and I engaged reversers as normal. We were slowing, just not as fast as normal. The airport had just had a line of rain showers move through and runway was very wet to the point of having standing water in 2 tracks where main gear run alongside either of centerline. At 60 KTS I slowly stowed reversers and went to manual brakes as we were approaching end of runway. As I mashed toe brakes, I felt anti-skid release several times, as we were in the 'troughs' of water. I then soft pedaled brakes as best I could to gain some effectiveness. Had it been dry, I could have made the last turnoff. However, I elected to use part of overrun to make a 180 degree turn back to last turnoff. At the time it seemed like the best course of action. Should have used flaps 40 degrees and autobrakes 3 or maximum. Touchdown end of runway seemed dryer than rollout end. Also, should have used reverse to taxi speed. That might have helped some. The last 1000 ft or so felt like we were on ice. Runway needs to be resurfaced or recrowned. There was definitely too much water on that end of runway.

Title: B737 FLT CREW ENCOUNTERS A WET RWY AND HYDROPLANES INTO THE OVERRUN AT THE END OF RWY 12L AT MSP.
Narrative: WE WERE CLRED FOR THE LOC RWY 12L AT MSP. ACFT WAS CONFIGURED AND APPROPRIATE CHKLISTS WERE COMPLETED.
