Narrative:

During arrival to cvg, we were descending on an assigned heading with ATC center. We received a frequency change to ZID. Upon contact, we were given instructions to make an immediate left turn change to approximately 90 degrees. Indianapolis called out traffic at 12 O'clock position below and requested we expedite descent to 11000 ft. We were in clouds and did not have a visual. We complied with the heading and expedited descent instructions. We then received a TA, followed by an RA requiring a climb. We performed the climb maneuver, notified ATC of the climb, and received a 'clear of conflict' TCASII advisory. We were now clear of clouds and could see an rj at 12 O'clock position below us, passing left to right. The remaining descent and arrival was normal, and the flight attendants reported the cabin and passenger were secure.
