Narrative:
We were given a climb to 16000 ft and a right turn to 360 degrees. We were in and out of the WX since departing mia. The captain started the turn and had leveled off at 16000 ft when we came out of the WX and noticed the tops of 2 cells that were clearly in our flight path. The captain executed his captain's authority/authorized and rolled out of the turn and started a climb to 17000 ft to avoid the cell. ATC was informed and had no problem with the deviation since there were numerous embedded thunderstorms in the area. Supplemental information from acn 582936: subsequently cleared us to climb to 17000 ft.
