Narrative:

Climbing through 300 ft flight attendant called to say 1L door was making an air leak noise. Pressurization and doors appeared normal. At 10000 ft I had a mechanic onboard look at the door. I went to look at it at 15000 ft. It was making a burbling sound and air was escaping. We requested a return to jfk. I was not sure if the noise was structural or not. I elected to land overweight rather than circle to burn off excess fuel. Aircraft landed with no incidents. Entered air leak and overweight landing into the logbook.
