Narrative:

We were certain we were cleared the sfo 8 departure and verified to expect runway 28L for departure. After departing runway 28L tower asked us to verify we were flying the offshore 1. We said we were given the sfo 8. Tower then handed us off to departure with an amended altitude. We then received vectors and never heard anything else from departure. I followed up with a call to sfo tower from seattle. No tapes were reviewed and there was no traffic conflict, but the supervisor mentioned concern over air carrier X only reading back transponder codes when receiving ATC clrncs.
