Narrative:
I was on a trip back to madison, in, when I encountered low ceilings and then suddenly I was in IFR conditions. I was close to laf and called the tower, but forgot to ask for special VFR and finally declared an emergency to get the tower to approve my coming in to land.

Title: A VFR SINGLE PLT ENCOUNTERS IMC CONDITIONS WHILE ENRTE, RESULTING IN AN EMER DECLARED TO GET THE ACFT ON THE GND.
Narrative: I WAS ON A TRIP BACK TO MADISON, IN, WHEN I ENCOUNTERED LOW CEILINGS AND THEN SUDDENLY I WAS IN IFR CONDITIONS. I WAS CLOSE TO LAF AND CALLED THE TWR, BUT FORGOT TO ASK FOR SPECIAL VFR AND FINALLY DECLARED AN EMER TO GET THE TWR TO APPROVE MY COMING IN TO LAND.
