Narrative:
We were at cruise altitude. Meal service was started when captain called to say he had reports of unstable air. He said he would update as soon as possible. Called back and advised crew to pick up as much as possible and stow and lock metal carts, luggage, etc. After that, we made appropriate PA's, safety checks and took our jumpseats. We hit some pretty severe air. Kept making safety PA's to remain seated.
