Narrative:

Established at 4000 ft on the published sadde transition to GPS 26 approach at cma airport, the GPWS activated 'terrain, terrain, pull up, pull up.' we had visual contact with the ridgeline below, so did not pull up. We assured passenger that all was ok, false warning. Airspeed was 200 KIAS steady. Suggest: transition altitude 4000 ft needs to be raised to prevent future terrain alerts. If solid IFR, pilot must pull up.
