Narrative:

Aircraft X was descending for lex and had aircraft Y in sight, was asked if he could maintain visual separation and replied affirmative. Aircraft Y was told of the traffic and climbed with aircraft X maintaining the visual. This is only a factor because I forgot to tell aircraft X to maintain visual separation, although it was clear he understood what was going on. This should be a phraseology error and not an operational error. Both aircraft were under positive control and clearly separated and aware of the use of visual separation.

Title: ZID CTLR CAUGHT IN INCOMPLETE PHRASEOLOGY ERROR DURING CONFLICT ALERT REVIEW WHEN APPLYING VISUAL SEPARATION BTWN A DSNDING CARJ AND CLBING C550.

Narrative: ACFT X WAS DSNDING FOR LEX AND HAD ACFT Y IN SIGHT, WAS ASKED IF HE COULD MAINTAIN VISUAL SEPARATION AND REPLIED AFFIRMATIVE. ACFT Y WAS TOLD OF THE TFC AND CLBED WITH ACFT X MAINTAINING THE VISUAL. THIS IS ONLY A FACTOR BECAUSE I FORGOT TO TELL ACFT X TO MAINTAIN VISUAL SEPARATION, ALTHOUGH IT WAS CLR HE UNDERSTOOD WHAT WAS GOING ON. THIS SHOULD BE A PHRASEOLOGY ERROR AND NOT AN OPERROR. BOTH ACFT WERE UNDER POSITIVE CTL AND CLRLY SEPARATED AND AWARE OF THE USE OF VISUAL SEPARATION.
