Narrative:
I departed vkx (potomac airfield) en route to 2w5 (maryland airport). I was given a discrete transponder code by potomac TRACON. My intention was to practice traffic patterns at 2w5. I landed at 2w5, and without thinking, switched my transponder to 1200 as I have done hundreds of times before september tue. I then performed 1 traffic pattern. On the taxiway, the FBO was on the radio asking if anyone squawked 1200. Realizing my mistake, I told the FBO that it was me, and changed my transponder to the code originally given by potomac TRACON. A few mins later, the FBO told me to come in, because potomac TRACON wanted to speak to me. The gentlemen from potomac TRACON asked for my name, address, and pilot certificate number. He told me that I violated the ADIZ, and he would forward the information to the FAA.
