Narrative:
I was taxiing off the ramp at montauk (mtp) to go to the taxiway. It was a busy day and planes were parked on the borderline of the ramp and runway. Thinking I was still on the ramp, I inadvertently taxied onto the runway while a cessna was taking off from the other end. There was no risk of collision due to distance between planes and cessna's liftoff in less than 1/2 runway length. I heard cessna announce departure, but I assumed I was on the ramp or taxiway entrance when I commenced my taxi. I'm not sure if the ramp/runway intersection is properly marked -- if it is, I clearly missed it. Also, not sure aircraft should be allowed to park so close to runway, with no clear path to taxiway. It was a short distance (2 plane lengths) to taxiway, I was not on the runway for 30 seconds. I failed to recognize end of ramp -- beginning of runway. I was not in a hurry, I just don't think it's marked properly. I'll check next time I go out there.

Title: C182 DEP FROM MTP ENTERS RWY WITH CESSNA DEPARTING FROM OPPOSITE END.
Narrative: I WAS TAXIING OFF THE RAMP AT MONTAUK (MTP) TO GO TO THE TXWY. IT WAS A BUSY DAY AND PLANES WERE PARKED ON THE BORDERLINE OF THE RAMP AND RWY. THINKING I WAS STILL ON THE RAMP, I INADVERTENTLY TAXIED ONTO THE RWY WHILE A CESSNA WAS TAKING OFF FROM THE OTHER END. THERE WAS NO RISK OF COLLISION DUE TO DISTANCE BTWN PLANES AND CESSNA'S LIFTOFF IN LESS THAN 1/2 RWY LENGTH. I HEARD CESSNA ANNOUNCE DEP, BUT I ASSUMED I WAS ON THE RAMP OR TXWY ENTRANCE WHEN I COMMENCED MY TAXI. I'M NOT SURE IF THE RAMP/RWY INTXN IS PROPERLY MARKED -- IF IT IS, I CLRLY MISSED IT. ALSO, NOT SURE ACFT SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO PARK SO CLOSE TO RWY, WITH NO CLR PATH TO TXWY. IT WAS A SHORT DISTANCE (2 PLANE LENGTHS) TO TXWY, I WAS NOT ON THE RWY FOR 30 SECONDS. I FAILED TO RECOGNIZE END OF RAMP -- BEGINNING OF RWY. I WAS NOT IN A HURRY, I JUST DON'T THINK IT'S MARKED PROPERLY. I'LL CHK NEXT TIME I GO OUT THERE.
