Narrative:
When ramp pushed us back in dtw, after engine start, she asked if she could disconnect. She never said to 'set brake.' she removed the headset, I never saw any hand signals. When she pulled the tug away the airplane began to roll. We thought the airplane was still connected to the tug, and she was pulling us back to gate for some reason. When we realized the airplane was disconnected the captain hit the brakes. Once again there was no 'set brake' from the push coordinator and I never saw any hand signals.
