Narrative:
I called for and received a clearance void time for takeoff from spa. The clearance read a void time of XA16. We were airborne via a time hack from our GPS/FMS of XA13. The time 'now' in the clearance was 2 mins different than our FMS's. So if we add +2 mins to the XA13 we were airborne at XA15. We did not make contact with greer approach until approximately XA18 climbing through 2500 ft, at which time greer approach said we 'missed our clearance void time.' (not sure what the confusion was at that point.) when greer handed us off he asked again if we heard him say we had missed our 'void' time. At that point no discussion on the radio would be relevant. We were VMC/until level at 3000 ft MSL, we had TCASII targets above us, but no TA's or RA. We were airborne before the void time!
