Narrative:
On initial approach, controller cleared us for a visual and gave us a quick base turn. We were too high and fast for a stabilized approach, so we went around. Tower sent us back to approach control and climbed us up to 3000 ft MSL. Again on the downwind for runway 2R at 3000 ft, the controller (approach) sarcastically said, 'flight number, do you think you have a lock on the airport this time?' I replied that we did and that on the previous approach, the base leg he had required was too close. He replied, 'if you can get to the airport, I'll clear you.' I called the airport, he cleared us for another visual and he turned us over to tower. When we called tower, he said that we had been confused and that we should fly a 180 degree heading and climb to 3000 ft. We complied. While climbing, he asked if we had an astra jet in sight and I reported this to tower. He then switched us back to our previous frequency. The approach controller took us south about 10 mi, turned us around again, cleared us for a visual to runway 2C. Tower cleared us to land runway 2C. Approach and landing on runway 2C normal.

Title: B737 LNDG BNA EXPERIENCES 2 GARS.
Narrative: ON INITIAL APCH, CTLR CLRED US FOR A VISUAL AND GAVE US A QUICK BASE TURN. WE WERE TOO HIGH AND FAST FOR A STABILIZED APCH, SO WE WENT AROUND. TWR SENT US BACK TO APCH CTL AND CLBED US UP TO 3000 FT MSL. AGAIN ON THE DOWNWIND FOR RWY 2R AT 3000 FT, THE CTLR (APCH) SARCASTICALLY SAID, 'FLT NUMBER, DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE A LOCK ON THE ARPT THIS TIME?' I REPLIED THAT WE DID AND THAT ON THE PREVIOUS APCH, THE BASE LEG HE HAD REQUIRED WAS TOO CLOSE. HE REPLIED, 'IF YOU CAN GET TO THE ARPT, I'LL CLR YOU.' I CALLED THE ARPT, HE CLRED US FOR ANOTHER VISUAL AND HE TURNED US OVER TO TWR. WHEN WE CALLED TWR, HE SAID THAT WE HAD BEEN CONFUSED AND THAT WE SHOULD FLY A 180 DEG HDG AND CLB TO 3000 FT. WE COMPLIED. WHILE CLBING, HE ASKED IF WE HAD AN ASTRA JET IN SIGHT AND I RPTED THIS TO TWR. HE THEN SWITCHED US BACK TO OUR PREVIOUS FREQ. THE APCH CTLR TOOK US S ABOUT 10 MI, TURNED US AROUND AGAIN, CLRED US FOR A VISUAL TO RWY 2C. TWR CLRED US TO LAND RWY 2C. APCH AND LNDG ON RWY 2C NORMAL.
