Narrative:

I was captain of flight. Flight attendants were late to aircraft because of extended crew rest resulting in 20 min delay of flight from XK25 to XK45. Upon review of their sequence, I determined they had about 6 hours 30 mins sleep in a 7 hour 30 min, behind the door, layover. After an XA58 arrival at iad and a 40 min delay waiting for a van, the crew got into their rooms at XC00. Their pickup was slipped until XJ30 allowing 7 hours 30 mins. Like my previous report this crew was very tired and stated they were good for the 1 leg back. Again, the crew who is primarily responsible for cabin safety was forced into an unsafe condition out of fear of company harassment and lack of pay. If a crew member had voluntarily placed themselves in this unsafe condition and then been involved in an aircraft incident, they would have been subject to disciplinary action for not being prepared to fly. Apparently, it is ok for the company to place crew members in an unsafe condition and it appears the FAA is ignoring the situation.

Title: A B737 CAPT RPTED THAT HIS CABIN CREW WAS LATE RPTING TO THE ACFT AT IAD, DUE TO AN EXTENDED CREW REST THEY WERE GRANTED.

Narrative: I WAS CAPT OF FLT. FLT ATTENDANTS WERE LATE TO ACFT BECAUSE OF EXTENDED CREW REST RESULTING IN 20 MIN DELAY OF FLT FROM XK25 TO XK45. UPON REVIEW OF THEIR SEQUENCE, I DETERMINED THEY HAD ABOUT 6 HRS 30 MINS SLEEP IN A 7 HR 30 MIN, BEHIND THE DOOR, LAYOVER. LIKE MY PREVIOUS RPT THIS CREW WAS VERY TIRED AND STATED THEY WERE GOOD FOR THE 1 LEG BACK. AGAIN, THE CREW WHO IS PRIMARILY RESPONSIBLE FOR CABIN SAFETY WAS FORCED INTO AN UNSAFE CONDITION OUT OF FEAR OF COMPANY HARASSMENT AND LACK OF PAY. IF A CREW MEMBER HAD VOLUNTARILY PLACED THEMSELVES IN THIS UNSAFE CONDITION AND THEN BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACFT INCIDENT, THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN SUBJECT TO DISCIPLINARY ACTION FOR NOT BEING PREPARED TO FLY. APPARENTLY, IT IS OK FOR THE COMPANY TO PLACE CREW MEMBERS IN AN UNSAFE CONDITION AND IT APPEARS THE FAA IS IGNORING THE SIT.
