Narrative:

I took off from priest river, identification (I56) at XA30 local, climbed to 4200 ft MSL to clear first ridge en route to felts (sff). I deviated from GPS direct to the west to avoid mt spokane on the way. I listened to ATIS, called the tower 8 mi out and landed without incident. When I called the tower to taxi, the controller on duty told me that a man called from 'green bluff' (west side of mt spokane) after I landed and remarked an airplane just flew over his house low and wanted to know who it was. Then the controller 'assumed' it was me and gave my 'north' number to him. The controller then told me the man would be reporting it on monday to the FAA. The controller was announcing this to the world on frequency 132.50 and 121.7 simultaneously, instead of having me contact him on a ground line, which I felt was wrong. My experience is, that in mountainous terrain, it is easy to fly at a legal altitude and still have houses that are above you and even at your altitude. To a person on the ground 500 ft isn't very much distance when compared to a plane at 120 mph. Green bluff is not densely populated, thus the 500 ft limit. The man who called in, made a comment to the controller about he was tired of this happening so often. The way the controller relayed this to me, made me think he was tired of me personally, like he recognized the airplane. I checked my logbook and don't see how the C170 could have been over his house more than twice in 6 months. I only have a general idea of where he lives, the controller said green bluff. My concern is: he now has my aircraft type and 'north' number thanks to the controller. This will make me the target of his anger, whether or not I'm the correct recipient of that anger. And furthermore, the controller gave that information with such haste, not understanding the consequence to others, and the man who made the call has been sleeping well knowing that on monday he will start going after that C170 (me).

Title: CITIZEN ADVISED ATC OF LOW FLYING C170 ACFT NEAR SFF.

Narrative: I TOOK OFF FROM PRIEST RIVER, ID (I56) AT XA30 LCL, CLBED TO 4200 FT MSL TO CLR FIRST RIDGE ENRTE TO FELTS (SFF). I DEVIATED FROM GPS DIRECT TO THE W TO AVOID MT SPOKANE ON THE WAY. I LISTENED TO ATIS, CALLED THE TWR 8 MI OUT AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. WHEN I CALLED THE TWR TO TAXI, THE CTLR ON DUTY TOLD ME THAT A MAN CALLED FROM 'GREEN BLUFF' (W SIDE OF MT SPOKANE) AFTER I LANDED AND REMARKED AN AIRPLANE JUST FLEW OVER HIS HOUSE LOW AND WANTED TO KNOW WHO IT WAS. THEN THE CTLR 'ASSUMED' IT WAS ME AND GAVE MY 'N' NUMBER TO HIM. THE CTLR THEN TOLD ME THE MAN WOULD BE RPTING IT ON MONDAY TO THE FAA. THE CTLR WAS ANNOUNCING THIS TO THE WORLD ON FREQ 132.50 AND 121.7 SIMULTANEOUSLY, INSTEAD OF HAVING ME CONTACT HIM ON A GND LINE, WHICH I FELT WAS WRONG. MY EXPERIENCE IS, THAT IN MOUNTAINOUS TERRAIN, IT IS EASY TO FLY AT A LEGAL ALT AND STILL HAVE HOUSES THAT ARE ABOVE YOU AND EVEN AT YOUR ALT. TO A PERSON ON THE GND 500 FT ISN'T VERY MUCH DISTANCE WHEN COMPARED TO A PLANE AT 120 MPH. GREEN BLUFF IS NOT DENSELY POPULATED, THUS THE 500 FT LIMIT. THE MAN WHO CALLED IN, MADE A COMMENT TO THE CTLR ABOUT HE WAS TIRED OF THIS HAPPENING SO OFTEN. THE WAY THE CTLR RELAYED THIS TO ME, MADE ME THINK HE WAS TIRED OF ME PERSONALLY, LIKE HE RECOGNIZED THE AIRPLANE. I CHKED MY LOGBOOK AND DON'T SEE HOW THE C170 COULD HAVE BEEN OVER HIS HOUSE MORE THAN TWICE IN 6 MONTHS. I ONLY HAVE A GENERAL IDEA OF WHERE HE LIVES, THE CTLR SAID GREEN BLUFF. MY CONCERN IS: HE NOW HAS MY ACFT TYPE AND 'N' NUMBER THANKS TO THE CTLR. THIS WILL MAKE ME THE TARGET OF HIS ANGER, WHETHER OR NOT I'M THE CORRECT RECIPIENT OF THAT ANGER. AND FURTHERMORE, THE CTLR GAVE THAT INFO WITH SUCH HASTE, NOT UNDERSTANDING THE CONSEQUENCE TO OTHERS, AND THE MAN WHO MADE THE CALL HAS BEEN SLEEPING WELL KNOWING THAT ON MONDAY HE WILL START GOING AFTER THAT C170 (ME).
