Narrative:
I inoperative'ed and deferred forward flight attendant seat per MEL 2521D. That MEL the way it is written mislead me to believe it was correct to inoperative that seat. After the plane left ZZZ, it was informed from maintenance controller it was on illegal deferral. I obtained authority/authorized from maintenance controller and informed the first flight attendant and flight crew.

Title: A B737-300 WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH THE FORWARD CABIN ATTENDANT'S JUMPSEAT RENDERED INOP IN CONFLICT WITH THE MEL.
Narrative: I INOP'ED AND DEFERRED FORWARD FLT ATTENDANT SEAT PER MEL 2521D. THAT MEL THE WAY IT IS WRITTEN MISLEAD ME TO BELIEVE IT WAS CORRECT TO INOP THAT SEAT. AFTER THE PLANE LEFT ZZZ, IT WAS INFORMED FROM MAINT CTLR IT WAS ON ILLEGAL DEFERRAL. I OBTAINED AUTH FROM MAINT CTLR AND INFORMED THE FIRST FLT ATTENDANT AND FLT CREW.
