Narrative:
Hotz 5 departure lax. First officer was PF. LNAV engaged and commanded slight right turn. He followed LNAV commands and when I saw aircraft start to turn I rechked HSI and saw we were south off course but apparently enough for LNAV to command right turn. ATC then assigned a heading of 220 degrees and we complied. ATC then advised of possible conflict. I plan to submit a complete debrief, but am quite sure and confident that departure was flown correctly and we did exactly what the FMC commanded. Please note that there is no way to xchk position except magenta (no published data to back up position) on this departure. We did not perform a quick align because the aircraft symbol was touching the runway as I taxied into position per information pages. This departure needs to be investigated as it appears there is no room whatsoever for any error. I spoke to ATC and they indicate there have been numerous problems with the holtz 5.
