Narrative:

I took off from leesburg, va, airport squawking VFR under VMC conditions without communications with ATC. I was unaware of the requirement for a discreet code or 2-WAY communications -- as I didn't realize that the ADIZ had been extended to include leesburg. The following contributed to the situation: I fly into fredrick, md, several times a yr from south dakota. I was unable to go to fredrick on saturday because of an airshow. I choose to go to leesburg. Had never landed there before, had flight following coming in. I had filed an IFR flight plan on thursday due to low clouds and fog. Just prior to departure time, WX turned VFR. Did not pick up IFR flight plan as it seemed very confusing during briefing as to how to get the clearance while on the ground at leesburg. Took off under VMC without discreet code or 2-WAY communication and departed under the class B. Was not aware of the extent of the washington dc area ADIZ until phone call with ZDC later that day.

Narrative: I TOOK OFF FROM LEESBURG, VA, ARPT SQUAWKING VFR UNDER VMC CONDITIONS WITHOUT COMS WITH ATC. I WAS UNAWARE OF THE REQUIREMENT FOR A DISCREET CODE OR 2-WAY COMS -- AS I DIDN'T REALIZE THAT THE ADIZ HAD BEEN EXTENDED TO INCLUDE LEESBURG. THE FOLLOWING CONTRIBUTED TO THE SIT: I FLY INTO FREDRICK, MD, SEVERAL TIMES A YR FROM S DAKOTA. I WAS UNABLE TO GO TO FREDRICK ON SATURDAY BECAUSE OF AN AIRSHOW. I CHOOSE TO GO TO LEESBURG. HAD NEVER LANDED THERE BEFORE, HAD FLT FOLLOWING COMING IN. I HAD FILED AN IFR FLT PLAN ON THURSDAY DUE TO LOW CLOUDS AND FOG. JUST PRIOR TO DEP TIME, WX TURNED VFR.
