Narrative:
After aircraft was parked at the gate and chocked, engines shut down and parking checklist accomplished, a catering truck that was backing up to the aircraft struck the aircraft just forward of the galley service door. The jet bridge was not quite in position yet. We immediately notified maintenance and operations. We also checked with the flight attendant to make sure that no one was injured. The aircraft suffered what appears to be extensive damage forward of the galley service door. There were no injuries and passenger were deplaned through the main entrance door without incident.
